Keep in mind, Twitch sometimes offers discounts or promos when you buy Bits, which can change how much they earn and how much you pay—but no matter what, the streamer always gets the same amount.

Here’s how it works: for every 1 Bit you Cheer, the streamer earns $0.01. Without any discounts, buying 1 Bit costs about $0.014. So, if you buy 100 Bits, you’ll pay $1.40—$1 goes to the streamer, and Twitch takes the remaining $0.40.

But here’s an important note: if you buy Bits and never use them to Cheer, Twitch keeps the full amount. So if someone buys 100 Bits and doesn’t send them to a streamer, Twitch keeps the entire $1.40. 

Want to donate Bits to a streamer? It’s super simple! First, you’ll need to buy some Bits through Twitch’s website. Once you’ve got them, just head to the streamer’s chat and type Cheer followed by the number of Bits you want to give. For example, to send 100 Bits, you’d type: Cheer100.

When you do that, a Bit emote will pop up in the chat—and sometimes even on the stream itself. If the streamer has custom Bit emotes, those will show up instead. You can Cheer any amount, even non-round numbers like Cheer37. The more Bits you send in a single cheer, the flashier the emote becomes! 

The more Bits you donate through cheering, the more you can level up your Cheer Chat Badge in that streamer’s chat. These badges are a cool way to show your support—and flex a little too! 😄

Badges are earned over time, so you don’t need to drop a huge amount all at once. For example, if you’re aiming for the 5,000 Bits badge, you can cheer a little here and there until you reach that total. Once you’ve unlocked a badge, it’s yours forever—but it only appears in that specific streamer’s chat.

Fun fact: if someone has the 1,000,000 Bit Badge, that means they’ve donated a whopping $10,000 worth of Bits to that streamer!
